This article describes the topology of the existent electric nets in different parts of the world, included the Colombian nets, and their performance when used as telecommunications channels. The transfer function is analyzed for low tension nets and radiation originated by PLC (Power Line Communications) technology is also considered. Since the radiation originated by PLC cannot be avoided completely the effect electromagnetic interference will be described with radio frequency communications. Modeling of the PLC channel is proposed and at the end conclusions are presented.
