Cálculo de los elementos matriciales: < j | f (x) | i>

En la mecánica cuántica es de importancia el cálculo de elementos matriciales de la forma < j | f(X) | i > donde |i > y | j > son vectores que pertenecen a una base completa ortogonal { | k > } y f (X) es un operador que representa un observable. Hay innumerables ejemplos donde es necesario la evaluación de estos elementos matriciales, sin embargo, en muy pocas ocasiones es sencillo calcularlos. En este artículo, haremos uso de un método eficiente desarrollado por el autor empleado con éxito en problemas de investigación que permite su cálculo de manera directa y sin complicaciones. Simplemente tendremos en cuenta algunas propiedades de los operadores que son tema común en los cursos introductorios de la física cuántica.
