This contribution is a short review of the current state of the high temperature superconductivity. After ten years of research in this field. A description of the common characteristics of the new sllperconducting materials is followed by the discussion of so me releva nt problems that limit their applications. Sorne aspects related to the determination of the mechanisms responsibles for the high Tc superconductivity are mentioned.
