En este artículo argumento que la antropología —en particular su enfoque cognitivo— ofrece una perspectiva fundamental para comprender las redes sociotécnicas contemporáneas. Esto implica un recorrido amplio, desde los estudios de parentesco hasta la inteligencia artificial, en el que sobresalen teorías que permiten entender la interacción entre humanos y no humanos, así como revelar el impacto social y los sesgos inscritos en los algoritmos. Concluyo señalando que la etnografía y el análisis de redes sociales constituyen herramientas esenciales para estudiar las implicaciones socioculturales de la ia, aportando bases sólidas para futuras discusiones e investigaciones antropológicas en este campo.
In this article, I argue that the cognitive approach within anthropology provides a critical, necessary lens for analyzing contemporary sociotechnical networks. Spanning a broad theoretical range —from kinship studies to artificial intelligence (ai)— I highlight concepts that facilitate the examination of human-nonhuman interactions and effectively uncover the social impacts and biases embedded within algorithmic systems. I conclude by asserting that a combination of ethnography and social network analysis constitutes an essential methodological tool for investigating the sociocultural implications of ai, offering a robust foundation for future anthropological research and discussion in this field.
