A detailed and systematically extended, as well as quantitatively validated shell-model investigation of the longitudinal C2 electron-scattering form factors in the fp-shell nuclei 60Ni and 65Cu, is presented. Unlike earlier studies that predominantly relied on a single prescription for single particle wave functions, the present work introduces a controlled and internally consistent comparison between multiple nuclear mean-field potentials within the same computational framework. This allows for a direct assessment of the role of the underlying radial wave functions in shaping electromagnetic observables. The calculations are performed using the JUN45 effective interaction within the full fp-model space without any truncation. To ensure a rigorous evaluation of the predictive capability of the theoretical model, quantitative statistical indicators such as the root-mean-square (RMS) deviation and the reduced chi-square ( ) are employed. These metrics provide a direct measure of the agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental data across the full range of momentum transfer. The results demonstrate that the Skyrme (Sk29) and Woods–Saxon potentials provide significantly improved agreement with experimental data when compared to the harmonic oscillator potential. The remaining discrepancies, particularly at higher momentum transfer, are interpreted as arising from missing higher-order correlations, meson-exchange currents, and limitations inherent in the restricted fp-shell model space.
