El desarrollo de las técnicas quirúrgicas de mínima invasión ha permitido reducir la morbilidad, la mortalidad y el tiempo de recuperación en medicina veterinaria. Se reporta
el caso de una biopsia hepática laparoscópica realizada mediante un sistema quirúrgico percutáneo de mini-laparoscopia en una canina Schnauzer de 12 años con alteraciones en las enzimas hepáticas e imágenes compatibles con un quiste hepatobiliar. Se empleó una técnica laparoscópica modificada con un sistema percutáneo de 2,3 mm para la obtención de la biopsia. El estudio histopatológico evidenció degeneración vacuolar hepatocelular difusa con colestasis y la paciente fue remitida a medicina interna para manejo farmacológico. En comparación con la técnica convencional, el abordaje redujo el número de incisiones abdominales, permitió una manipulación precisa de las estructuras hepáticas y se asoció con una recuperación rápida y menor daño tisular.
Minimally invasive surgical techniques have become increasingly important in veterinary medicine because they reduce morbidity, mortality, and recovery time. This report
describes a laparoscopic liver biopsy performed using a percutaneous mini-laparoscopic surgical system in a 12-year-old female Schnauzer with elevated liver enzymes and imaging findings consistent with a hepatobiliary cyst. A modified laparoscopic technique employing a 2.3 mm percutaneous mini-laparoscopic system was used to obtain liver biopsy samples. Histopathological examination revealed diffuse hepatocellular vacuolar degeneration with cholestasis, and the patient was referred for medical management.
Postoperative recovery was uneventful, with favorable wound healing and no evidence of pain or infection. Compared with the conventional technique, the modified approach reduced the number of abdominal incisions while allowing precise manipulation of hepatic structures. This technique minimized tissue trauma and was associated with rapid recovery and reduced postoperative analgesic and antibiotic requirements.
