Simulación del comportamiento fisicoquímico de derrames de hidrocarburos en ríos

El presente trabajo desarrolla y aplica un modelo de computador (COLSPILL) para simular el comportamiento físico de derrames de hidrocarburos en sistemas de agua dulce. En este modelo se considera el proceso físico de la transformación de una mancha de petróleo debido a la advección (transporte), esparcimiento, difusión turbulenta horizontal, evaporación, disolución, emulsificación, cambios en densidad y en viscosidad, y retención en las orillas. El modelo se puede usar para simular derrames de petróleo continuos o instantáneos. Los resultados del modelo se muestran coherentes y consistentes. No se hizo la comparación con datos experimentales pues no se tenían a disposición a la fecha. El modelo se puede usar para desarrollar medidas de limpieza en el caso de un derrame real de petróleo y para controlar exitosamente el impacto ambiental de posibles derrames de petróleo.
