Este artículo examina el poder analítico y crítico de la noción de fetichismo en Hegel y Marx. Propongo analizar dos formas de abstracción que convierten la noción de fetiche en un fetiche, no solo mediante su desplazamiento (en Marx), sino también a través de su elaboración (en Hegel), dando lugar a un estereotipo racial que fundamenta la noción de razón universal. Al trazar las bases hegelianas de la noción marxista clásica, considero cómo la noción de fetiche opera de forma autónoma con respecto a su índice histórico, específicamente en la articulación de la modernidad capitalista colonial que inicia con las incursiones portuguesas en África durante el siglo XV.
This article considers the analytical and critical power of the notion of fetishism in Hegel and Marx. I analyze two forms of abstraction that transform the notion of fetish into a fetish, not only displacing (in Marx) but also elaborating (in Hegel) a racial stereotype that grounds the notion of universal reason. Tracing the Hegelian foundations of the classical Marxist notion, I consider how the notion of fetish operates autonomously from its historical context, specifically the articulation of colonial capitalist modernity that begins with the Portuguese incursions into Africa during the 15th century.
