El conocimiento del hombre a través de su lengua, ha sido un foco de interés en los ámbitos de la investigación de la lingüística, la psicología cognoscitiva y la filosofía del lenguaje. Uno de los enfoques teóricos con mayor rigurosidad en este campo, lo constituye la teoría generativa transformacional, en cuyo sendero se ubican los aportes del profesor norteamericano Noam Chomsky, quien no necesita carta de presentación en el mundo académico.
