En una zona aproximada de 50 km, correspondiente a las municipalidades de Montebello y la Ceja (Antioquia) ocurren cuerpos de pegmatitas, que se emplazaron tanto en las rocas metamórficas del Grupo Ayurá-Montebello de edad paleozoica, como en plutones granodioríticos de posible edad mesozoica y considerados comagmáticos con las pegmatitas. Se hizo la determinación de 37 muestras de pegmatitas, se estudió sus correlaciones con las rocas encajantes y se describió la geología regional, acompañando el trabajo de un mapa geológico a escala 1: 25.000, cuadros, gráficos, localizaciones e interpretaciones relacionadas con los análisis petrográficos y mineralógicos.
