Infección persistente con el virus de la diarrea viral bovina (VDVB) en hatos lecheros de la Sabana de Bogotá

Con el objeto de establecer si en nuestro país hay presencia de animales inmunotolerantes, persistentemente infectados (Pl) con el virus de la diarrea viral bovina (VDVB) se planteo una investigación con base en un estudio previo serológico longitudinal de un año. A partir de los resultados obtenidos se determinaron los animales que permanecieron seronegativos o con títulos bajos y se tomaron como fuente para buscar Pl. Para la detección de este grupo de animales se planteó un estudio usando cultivos de células polimorfonucleares (PMN). Se emplearon tres variantes de la técnica buscando una mejor detección viral, para lo cual se produjeron anticuerpos específicos al virus y se estandarizó la prueba de inmunoperoxidasa indirecta (IPI).
Los resultados mostraron por primera vez para nuestro país la presencia de animales inmunotolerantes persistentemente infectados con el VDVB. La importancia de este hallazgo radica en que estos animales diseminan la enfermedad de forma constante. Se sugiere a partir de este aporte la implantación de medidas temientes a controlar la presencia de este tipo de animales en los hatos.
