In Colombia, the number of companion animals has significantly increased, driving a whole market segment in services, including funeral services, which are important not only for grief management but also for the sanitary disposal of their remains. FUNERAVET, a pioneer in providing these services, has carried out over 3,193 cemetery services, 17,873 individual cremations, 2,429 compostings, and 75,731 collective disposals in 22 years. This study aimed to characterize the collective composting of companion animals at FUNERAVET, to contribute to this area of knowledge in which no publications were identified in Colombia. Between March and April 2024, the necessary information was collected, identifying a pile composting management with a duration of three to 3.5 months, involving the formation of layers with a mixture of rice husk, chicken manure, and carcasses, inoculated with microorganisms, hydration, aeration, and turning. The physicochemical and microbiological analyses comply with NTC 5167 except for the total oxidizable carbon, which is slightly low, and the total coliform count, which is slightly high. This is attributed to the C:N ratio of the initial mixture and excessive hydration.
