In the search for antitumor activity in drug development is necessary to evaluate preliminary the cytotoxic activity, in order to search for other activities as antitproliferative and genotoxic potential effect. The evaluation of dierent fractions obtained from marine sponges from Colombian Caribbean has been found antiproliferative activity in some of them. Therefore, in this study we evaluated the cytotoxic activity of thirteen fractions obtained from marine sponges Amphimedon compressa, Cinachyrella kuekenthali, Svenzea zeai and Ircinia campana were evaluated to determine their cytotoxic potential in Jurkat clone E6-1 cells, and cell line CHO-K1. The techniques used were MTT test and trypan blue assay to assess cytotoxicity and viability in order to determine their half inhibitory concentration. Results show that no single fraction has signicant cytotoxic activity.
