A medida que el SARS-CoV-2/ COVID-19 continúa propagándose en todo el mundo, se han aumentado los informes de pacientes pediátricos con infección de curso complicado y antecedente de enfermedad crónica. En este artículo se da a conocer el caso de una paciente de 11 años con antecedente de anemia de células falciformes variedad homocigota SS e infección grave por SARS-CoV-2/ COVID-19 que desarrolla síndrome torácico agudo. Se recomienda en esta patología, reconocer a tiempo la infección en un intento por prevenir complicaciones relacionadas con la enfermedad de base y desenlace fatal.
As SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 continues to spread throughout the world, reports of pediatric patients with complicated course of infection and a history of chronic disease have increased. This article reports the case of an 11-year-old patient with a history of sickle cell anemia homozygous SS variety and severe SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 infection who developed acute chest syndrome, so it is recommended in this disease to recognize in time the infection in an attempt to prevent complications related to the underlying disease and fatal outcome.
