Conceptualization is the main challenge to be faced when teaching chemical equilibrium. In the teaching of general chemistry courses, the kinetic approach to chemical equilibrium usually predominates, while the energetic foundation of this concept is left for later courses. In this paper, we present the formalism that integrates kinetics and thermodynamics, applying it to the study of the reaction model. The results obtained clearly explain the main kinetic and energetic aspects that characterize chemical equilibrium. This work is developed to strengthen the teacher's conceptual appropriation of chemical equilibrium and offer tools that give autonomy for the elaboration of novel didactic material to take to the classroom.
