This study develops an energy management system (EMS) for a microgrid that includes photovoltaic panels, wind turbine, gasifier, diesel generator, storage through batteries, demand response and utility grid connection. The development of the energy management system seeks to maximize the use of the available energy resource while economically powering the load from the aforementioned energy sources. Biomass is included in the study due to its potential for electricity generation, the large amount of this resource generated from agricultural processes and because it is considered a neutral source of pollutant gas emissions. The results obtained show the effectiveness of the proposed system in the economic distribution of the sources that compose the microgrid.
