In this paper a new methodology that quantifies the impact of the reliability of the natural gas system on the reliability of the electrical system is proposed. The impact is measured using a relationship between the non-supplied energy by contingencies in the natural gas network with the nonsupplied energy by the contingencies in the electricity network, considering multiple values for failure rates and repair times of the natural gas network. The numerical results indicate that in distribution systems with high penetration of distributed generation based on natural gas, the reliability of the natural gas network strongly impacts the reliability of the electrical system.
