Energy Solution to Improve the Educational Conditions of a Wayúu School in Kuisa, La Guajira

The rural sector, and specifically the indigenous reservations in Colombia, has a wide technological gap with respect to urban centers. This project seeks to reduce this gap, bringing technologies closer to communities that have deficiencies in some basic needs such as access to electricity to improve the quality of education. An integrate solution to become better the conditions of the children, teachers and in general the indigenous Wayuu community related with the “Nuestra Senora del Carmen zona Kuisa” School in La Guajira Colombia is presented. The solution includes a photovoltaic solar energy system, a refrigeration system, an ecological toilets system, and acquisition of electronic devises. The project has benefited more than 400 Wayúu natives.
