En el presente artículo de reflexión se argumenta que la actual crisis internacional no corres- ponde a una excepcionalidad del sistema sino a una de sus características inherentes, a saber: su carácter imperialista. A partir de una caracterización del término desde la perspectiva de la teoría del “nuevo imperialismo”, se examina la cuestión del supuesto cambio del sistema internacional unipolar a un sistema multipolar. Se concluye que la actualidad presenta una continuidad de la unipolaridad con la hegemonía de Estados Unidos, que se refuerza ante la actual coyuntura.

In this reflective article, the argument is presented that the current international crisis is not an exception to the system but one of its inherent characteristics, namely its imperialistic nature. Drawing on a characterization of the term from the perspective of the theory of 'new im- perialism,' the article examines the question of the supposed shift from a unipolar international system to a multipolar one. The conclusion is that the present situation exhibits continuity of unipolarity with the dominance of the United States, which is reinforced in the current context.
