Healthcare systems face the need for analytical tools to support decision-making in complex situations of system saturation. The aim of this study is to analyse the performance of healthcare centres in the face of epidemiological disruptions, using discrete-event simulation with FlexSim Healthcare. The results show that in high-demand scenarios that take resilience factors into account, the healthcare system’s responsiveness is reduced by 37.50% compared with its initial conditions. Innovatively, the study contributes theoretically by demonstrating, through comparative simulation, how combined resilience factors improve hospital adaptive performance during crises. It can help decision makers and researchers improve the management of healthcare processes using technologies such as simulation, even in the face of unexpected disruptions.
