Frente al sentimentalismo rosa que gobierna buena parte de los estudios actuales sobre el amor, se hace necesario tomar éste como una complejidad que, si bien lo reconoce como sentimiento, lo entiende como algo que es mucho más que eso: que integra dimensiones relativas a las ideas que sobre él se hace una época, a los ideales que le asigna, a los lazos relaciónales en los que lo concreta. Delimitar los niveles en los que se desenvuelve el fenómeno del amor, permite precisar los nexos de éste con el tiempo, tanto aquellos que señalan la incidencia modeladora de la temporalidad histórica sobre la experiencia amorosa, como los que muestran el particular amarre subjetivo que el amor hace de ese real que es el tiempo.
Confronted by the slick sentimentality that governs a great many of contemporary studies on love, it becomes necessary to stress its complexity, taking into account, of course, its nature as a sentiment, but considering it as something much more than just that: as something that-includes the ideas that the epoch entertains with regard to it, the ideals that are attributed to it, the interpersonal ties in which it is realized. Delimiting the levels in which the phenomenon of love takes place, allows us to determine its links with time, those which manifest the modeling influence of historical time on the experience of love, as well as those which demonstrate the particular subjective bond that love establishes with that dimension of the real that is time.
