Today, in almost all Colombia, silencing of adversaries through terror or violence is the most widespread means of solving conflict. Hence the importance of contrary conduct, such as that wich different afro-colombian and native peoples have displayed without state or party intervention. Their dialogical and arbitrated procedures are the subject of inquiry in a research project at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia whose preliminary results are presented in this paper.
