"Risk" has been considered a matter of research in different fields. These such studies share a common interest to elucidate the aspects which have to be taken into account in individual, group and social management of risk. By making a brief historical survey the term "risk" has a great variety of semantic connotations. Among them sociological, anthropological, psychological, educational views as well as the study of risk and it´s implications on the health field. In the later mentioned, polarization between "objective" and "subjective" tendencies of research has been shown. Both these tendencies involve epistemological and ontological assumptions. Thus, they guide the analyses of risk to be carried out under the paradigm of positivist or interpretive qualitative research.
