Sífilis del recién nacido

Se revisaron los casos de sífilis del recién nacido diagnosticados en el Instituto Materno Infantil de Bogotá en el lapso de 3 y 1/2 años. Del total de casos encontrados (168) solo se confirmó el diagnóstico en 77. A la sífilis del recién nacido correspondió el 5% de las hospitalizaciones y el 1% de la mortalidad durante el lapso de tiempo estudiado. Se diagnosticaron 2 casos por mes en promedio y la incidencia fue de 1% . No se encontró predominio de sexo. La mortalidad fue del 33% correspondiendo el 60% de ésta en la primera semana de vida. El 61% de los casos correspondió a niños con peso de 1.500 gramos a 2.500 y el 44 % tenían menos de 38 semanas de edad gestacional. El peso promedio fue de 2.350 gramos y la talla promedio de 45 cms. La edad materna promedio de 23 años y el 75% tenían de 16 a 25 años y el 73% solo habían tenido hasta 3 gestaciones; con pocos antecedentes de abortos, solo el 18% Y 1 solo caso con antecedente de mortinato. De las madres solo el 19% tuvo control prenatal y de éstas al 46% se determinó serología.
