Cromoblastomicosis: estudio clínico patológico de 17 casos

En el presente trabajo se estudian 17 casos de cromoblastomicosis encontrados en una revisión de 162 ejemplos de micosis profundas, 10.4 por ciento, En dicha serie, y descartando la candidiasis, la cromoblastomicosis es segunda en frecuencia después de la blastomicosis suramericana. La mayoría de los pacientes eran agricultores del sexo masculino entre los 30 y los 49 años de edad, encontrándose en este sentido una completa superposición con la blastomicosis suramericana. El método de diagnóstico más frecuentemente empleado fue la biopsia. El organismo encontrado en los cultivos fue el hormodendrum pedrosoi. El tiempo de evolución de la mayoría de las lesiones oscilaba alrededor de los 6 años. La contaminación se hace posiblemente a través de heridas cutáneas y el hongo se puede propagar a otros sitios por autoinoculación, raramente por vía linfática o hemática.
