En presencia de una infección radicular de cualquiera intensidad.
una radiografía es absolutamente indispensable. En efecto, sin un dato exacto del estado de la región apical, y del trayecto y forma de los canales, hay muy pocas probabilidades de éxito en el tratamiento. La primera operación consiste en trepanar los tejidos cariados hasta abrir ampliamente la cámara pulpar y descubrir los orificios de los canales radiculares; en este estado se coloca en la cavidad una preparación a base de formol y se obtura con gutapercha o algodón, según la sensibilidad del diente.
