Ictericia

Al estudiar la ictericia, hay una tendencia a subrayar demasiado la parte química del asunto, dejando rezagada la parte clínica. No hay duda, que un conocimiento de química es cada vez más esencial para comprender la medicina moderna, y sería difícil exagerar cuanto del conocimiento que tenemos de la patología sobre ictericia, ha sido conseguido con la ayuda de la bioquímica. A pesar de ésto la ictericia es un tópico que está lejos de ser solucionado y hasta hoy, los adelantos obtenidos por la bioquímica deben solamente ser utilizados de acuerdo con el criterio del médico clínico. Se pueden apreciar así los maravillosos adelantos de los bioquímicos y al mismo tiempo reconocer sus limitaciones y sus campos de aplicación. De estudios parciales o de investigaciones mal entendidas el médico sólo puede llegar a pobres conclusiones.
