A. R. Obrero de 42 años, empezó a experimentar desde hace 4 meses (enero de 1950) una disminución progresiva de la agudeza a visual acompañada de vértigos y de una cefalea occipital permanente pero que se hacia mas intensa par las noches. A los pocos días se presentaron nuevos síntomas consistentes en vómitos fáciles, sin nausea: una tendencia casi permanente al sueño y frecuentes bostezos. Un poco mas tarde hicieron su aparición desordenes del equilibrio, de la  marcha y una hemiparesia izquierda con ligero aumento del tono muscular. Luego vino una parálisis del motor ocular externo del lado derecho que no duro sino alrededor de una semana y enseguida una parálisis facial del lado izquierdo, del tipo periférico y que como la anterior fue también muy fugaz.
