Medicina Física y Rehabilitación, como especialidad médica orientada a mantener y a recuperar la función del individuo con secuelas generadas por la enfermedad neurológica, argumenta su intervención en los diagnósticos clínico, psicosocial, de la deficiencia, de la discapacidad y de la minusvalía. Busca un amplio conocimiento de la persona y de su entorno social con el objetivo de proveerle o facilitarle el disfrute de la vida en las condiciones más parecidas a las que llevaba previamente a la enfermedad, corrigiendo, desde luego, los factores de riesgo que participaron en el desarrollo del evento.
