El avance tecnológico en el área de las telecomunicaciones
ha inundado el ambiente de radiaciones
de radiofrecuencia. La física de las
ondas electromagnéticas muestra la existencia
de dos tipos de radiaciones, dependiendo de su
frecuencia o mejor de la energía fotónica asociada;
estas son: radiación ionizante y radiación
no ionizante. Aunque la radiación proveniente
de sistemas de telecomunicaciones pertenece a
la radiación no ionizante, existe el miedo a los
daños a la salud humana debido a la exposición
a este tipo de radiaciones, las investigaciones en
torno al tema han sido muy amplias y de resultados
muy diversos, dificultando la obtención de
conclusiones generales, sin embargo en muchos
países ya están tomando medidas para mantener
controlados los niveles de radiación.
