Call for papers Special Issue: Mathematics models, dynamic systems including stochastic and biological processes

2019-07-24

Dear colleagues,

Receive a cordial greeting from the editorial team of Acta Biológica Colombiana (ABC) Journal, from the Biology Department of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.

Acta Biológica Colombiana is opening the call for papers for a special issue in mathematics models, dynamic systems including stochastic and biological processes. This is due to the growing interest in making collaborations between experts in mathematical models, dynamic systems including stochastic and researchers interested in biological processes.

The ABC journal is an Open Access Journal currently classified in category B by Publindex and indexed in WoS, Scopus, Scielo Citation Index among others.  For this issue, we are looking for three types of papers making emphasis in applications in ecology, epidemiology, immunology, public health, population genetics, genomics, host-parasite-vector relationship, neglected tropical diseases. The requested articles include:

(1) Papers that describe challenges and opportunities for biologists and modellers, who can identify critical questions and provide examples of prototype models with accessible language for mixed scientist communities

(2) Manuscripts that reflect the contributions of the models in the identification or implementation of public health and biological control policies. The importance of presenting prototypical models and adequate bibliography is essential.

(3) Articles that indicates the importance of models in the education of biologists of the 21st century, besides that those mentioned above, also are desirables manuscripts on population genetics and omic areas. These articles should be the answer to publications and proposals that have been made in various parts of the world.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). Review articles, short communication or research articles are invited.  Submitted papers may be well formatted and use good English or Spanish.

Manuscript Submission deadline: October 30, 2019 (early submission is welcome). Manuscripts should be submitted online at

https://revistas.unal.edu.co/index.php/actabiol

Please follow the Guide for Authors

Issue date of publication: September 1, 2020. All accepted manuscripts will be assigned with DOI and published as early version as soon as possible.
