El problema central de este artículo es la transformación del Estado de bienestar en Gran Bretaña en las últimas décadas. Se busca una aproximación histórica a la trayectoria de desarrollo del Estado de bienestar británico, particularmente a la progresiva reducción que ha enfrentado en las últimas décadas.
En el caso británico, la constitución y desarrollo del Estado de bienestar, desde la década de 1940 hasta la primera década del siglo XXI, presenta un devenir histórico que nos permite observar, tanto el marco en el que surge este modelo de Estado, como su progresiva reducción y las resistencias que ha despertado.
The central problem of this paper is the process of change experienced by the welfare state in Britain in recent decades. We seek for an historical approach to the development path of the British welfare state, particularly to the progressive reduction has faced in recent decades.
In the British case, the establishment and development of the welfare state since the 1940's until the first decade of the century, presents an historical development that allows us to observe both the context in which this model of state arises, as its gradual reduction and the resistance that it has generated.
