Objective: To determine the validity and reliability of the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP-II), Spanish version, in a sample of pregnant women in Colombia. Materials and method: This methodological study assessed apparent and content validity through expert judgment (n = 6). Construct validity was determined in a sample of n = 563 pregnant women using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, while internal consistency was evaluated using Cronbach’s alpha.

Results: Evidence of content validity and construct validity was obtained. The suggested 41-item model demonstrated a better fit compared to the theoretical 52-item model in several absolute and parsimony fit indices. However, neither model reached the ideal values in the incremental fit indices, indicating that further improvements in the overall model fit are needed. The original model exhibited excellent reliability (α = 0.923), suggesting that the scale can be applied in its 52-item version, as the hypothetical model is adequate to establish validity and maintain the reliability of
the measurement of the latent variables of interest. Conclusions: The HPLP-II scale applied to Colombian pregnant women demonstrated a suggested model with moderate fit and excellent reliability values. Its original
version is recommended for use in populations similar to that of the study.
