Desarrollo conceptual en enfermería: evolución, tendencias y desafíos

El desarrollo conceptual que, hasta ahora se ha dado, en enfermería refleja la búsqueda insistente de un marco propio que fundamente la identidad de la disciplina y la profesión y que disminuya su dependencia histórica de otras ciencias de la salud. En ese sentido los diferentes abordajes conceptuales en enfermería nos conducen, de manera sustancial, no sólo a ver al ser humano como un ser holístico e integral sino además, interactuando con su ambiente social y natural y con un nuevo lenguaje que entiende sistemas mas complejos e integrativos en una comunidad global. El hecho de que el sistema conceptual se haya centrado en el ser humano como fenómeno de interés para enfermería nos muestra que estamos iniciando su reconocimiento. Esto nos está impulsando a seguir descubriendo lo que es esencial para enfermería y este descubrimiento, al parecer, continuará en el siglo 21 donde ya empiezan a aparecer nuevas teorías. Indudablemente que la rápida innovación tecnológica, la globalización marcada por el conocimiento y el capitalismo transnacional y la información sobre el cuidado de la salud presente en la red de comunicaciones, propenden por un desarrollo conceptual en enfermería mas acelerado y en donde la profesión y la disciplina estarán ajustando y desarrollando sus paradigmas. No obstante, la aceleración de este conocimiento, no podemos perder de vista los límites que podríamos enfrentar y que están relacionados con la complejidad del fenómeno mismo del conocimiento en enfermería, esto es, con su interdependencia y su multidimensionalidad.
