Objetivo: caracterizar os usuários vivendo com HIV que utilizam um serviço de referência no Estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil, e comparar a satisfação entre os usuários da unidade ambulatorial e da internação.
Método: estudo quantitativo, transversal, realizado com 106 pessoas vivendo com HIV, atendidas em um serviço de infectologia no Município de Florianópolis/sc. A coleta de dados ocorreu de julho a dezembro de 2013, por meio de um formulário composto por questões sociodemográficas e sobre satisfação. Para análise dos dados utilizou-se o teste Qui-Quadrado por meio do software SPSS®.
Resultados: a maioria dos usuários demonstrou-se satisfeita com o serviço em todos os aspectos: disponibilidade dos cuidados (80,2 %); oportunidades/liberdade para dar
sugestões (94,3 %); satisfação com as relações pessoais (94,3 %); acesso ao serviço (87,7 %); e cuidado recebido (90 %). Não houve diferença entre os grupos (ambulatório e internação) na comparação entre os aspectos relacionados à satisfação.
Conclusão: a satisfação das pessoas vivendo com HIV mostrou-se positiva tanto para os usuários do serviço ambulatorial quanto da internação.
Objective: to characterize users who use a reference health service for care of HIV in the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil, and compare the satisfaction among users from outpatients and hospitalization units.
Method: a quantitative, cross-sectional study of 106 people living with HIV treated at an infectious disease service in the city of Florianopolis (Santa Catarina). Data collection was
developed between July and December 2013, through a form composed of sociodemographic and satisfaction issues. The chi-square test and SPSS® software were used for data analysis.
Results: the majority of users were satisfied with the service in all aspects:availability of care (80,2 %), opportunities/freedom to make suggestions (94,3 %), satisfaction with personal relationships (94,3 %), access to the service (87,7 %) and care received (90 %).There was no difference between the groups (outpatient and hospitalization) in the comparison between the aspects related to satisfaction.
Conclusion: the satisfaction of people living with HIV was positive for both outpatient and hospitalization services.

Metodología: estudio cuantitativo transversal, realizado con 106 personas con VIH asistidas en un servicio de infectología en la ciudad de Florianópolis (Santa Catarina). La recolección de datos ocurrió de julio a diciembre de 2013 por medio de un formulario compuesto por cuestiones sociodemográficas y satisfacción. Para análisis de datos se utilizó el test chi-cuadrado y el software SPSS®.
Resultados: la mayoría de los usuarios demostró satisfacción con el servicio en todos los aspectos: disponibilidad de los cuidados (80,2 %),oportunidad/libertad para dar sugerencias (94,3 %), satisfacción con las relaciones personales (94,3 %), acceso al servicio (87,7 %) y cuidado recibido (90 %). No hubo diferencia entre los grupos (ambulatorio e internación) en la comparación entre los aspectos relacionados con la satisfacción.
Conclusión: la satisfacción de las personas viviendo con VIH se mostró positiva para los usuarios del servicio en ambulatorio y para los de la internación.
