We provide an overview of moduli problems and discuss the construction of their associated moduli spaces using Geometric Invariant Theory (GIT). We present the general framework for constructing the moduli space of vector bundles and the moduli space of coherent systems on a smooth, irreducible complex projective algebraic curve. The study of these moduli spaces is closely related to Brill–Noether theory.
