La genre Crenea, d'après GRAHAM et al., serait un genre constitué de 3 espèces, restreint aux rivages, îles, bords de rivière du Nord de l'Amérique du Sud et de Darién (Panamá) (GRAHAM et al., 1985). Ces trois espèces seraient C. maritima Aublet, C. surinamensis (L. f.) Koehne et C. patentinervis (Koehne) Standley, mais pour A. LOURTEIG
C. maritima et C. surinamensis seraient synonymes.La genre Crenea, d'apl'es GRAHAM et al., serait un genre constitue de 3 especes, restreint aux rivages, iles, bords de riviere du Nord de l'Amerique du Sud et de Darien (Panama) (GRAHAM et al., 1985).
