Chanos chanos, the milkfish, is a marine and estuarine bony fish, widely distributed in tropical sectors of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. In November 2021 an 85 cm fork-length specimen of milkfish was fished off the Colombian Caribbean town of San Bernardo del Viento. We cannot provide a clear-cut explanation for the presence of this species in the Caribbean, but we would like to raise attention to this new exotic fish for the Caribbean.
