Here, a new species of the Dichotomius agenor species group (Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae) from the Caribbean plain of Colombia is described. The new species is closer in similarity to Dichotomius (Selenocopris) tristis than to any of the other species of the group because both have the male cephalic carina with the apex of the medial tubercle rounded and the ones of lateral transversally enlarged; the ventral clypeal process apically truncate; the pronotum with a strong anterior declivity; the hypomeron with a row of big and setiferous punctures in the outer margin; the metasternum with setiferous punctures in the anterior area and the lateral margins, while in the middle and posterior areas, including the posteromedial area surrounding the inner posterior angle of the mesocoxae, only with very small and disperse punctures; and the metacoxae with a row of small and setiferous punctures along the posterior margin. However, both species can be separated because the new species has in the prosternum sparse and scattered, small punctures, each with long, red-yellowish setae; the outer border of the parameres slightly sinuous; the lamella copulatix with the dorsal emargination relatively shallow, and the ventral right arm is oblique to the outer side for the horizontal axe of the lamella, while the left arm is straight. Excluding the new species described here, six other species from the group are present in Colombia, and their distributions are also actualized.
