Anotaciones sobre lagartos del género Phenacosaurus

Como lo anota E. R. Dunn (1), este género fue descrito por Barbour en 1920 con Anolis heterodermus Duméril como monotipo (2). De este interesante género restringido a Colombia se han descrito hasta ahora tres especies, de las cuales la más común en las alturas es Phenacosaurus heterodermus, cuya característica más notable es la doble línea de escamas puntiagudas de la cresta dorsal (foto 1), comparada can la cresta sencilla de las otras dos especies, P. nicefori y P. richteri (foto 2), descritas recientemente por E. R. Dunn (2).
