Political consensus has become a key dimension of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) integrative scheme since the very first moment of its creation in the seventies of last century. In this sense, stances coordination and common actions in multilateral scenarios as well as other activities related to third parties, have been outstanding. This has also been the case when building consensus about other spheres linked to shared interests like those concerning functional cooperation, sub-regional security and diplomatic support to member nations on topics especially sensitive to them. Present time context has reinforced and posed new difficulties and aspects to this process. In this scenario, this paper points to elucidate some of the most meaningful elements of the context bearing a remarkable incidence on the mentioned process, as well as to assess the limits that constrain it in order to generate consensus within the group by identifying on one hand some of the most important breaking-off points and, on the other hand, a group of the most relevant axis around which the sub-regional Caribbean integration is moving
