The formal structure of the academic curricula at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, is considered and criticized. It is found to be characterized by a rigid "linear" structure which makes it unproductive and expensive in its organization. On the other hand, it does not offer to the students academic alternatives nor possibilities for an effective actualization of the required knowledge for this rapid changing world. A new open and flexible structure of the academic curricula is proposed, centered on the particular students interest, on the possibilities of the academic staff and on the particularities of the scientific, social and productive external medium.
