Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The document has not been previously published or previously sent to other magazine (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  • The file sent is in Microsoft Word, Latex or PDF format.

  • Web addresses or links  for each reference have been included, wherever possible.

  • The text fulfills the bibliographic and style requirements indicated in the Rules for the Authors, that you can find in the ABOUT THE JOURNAL section.

  • Please, send a copy of the submitted article to  momento_fcbog@unal.edu.co

Author Guidelines

The articles’ contains must not have been published, totally or partially, in another magazine. Each manuscript is subjected to an evaluation process by peers chosen by the Editorial Committee, and according to their recommendations it will be published or rejected or changes will be suggested. The Editorial Committee could reject, suggest changes or even carry out modifications to the literary style without altering the scientific contain. The final version of the articles accepted for publication should be revised by each one of the authors. The evaluation time is at least one month. The accuracy of the information in the manuscripts, including figures, tables and bibliographic citations is the sole responsibility of the author or authors.

MOMENTO publishes articles on scientific and technological research, reflection, revision and short articles. According to the document "General guidelines for updating the Index of Colombian Scientific and Technological Serials" (Colciencias, 2002), it is understood by:

"Article of scientific and technological research. Document that presents, in detail, the original results of completed research projects. The structure generally used contains four important sections: introduction, methodology, results and conclusions.

Reflection article. Document that presents results of finished research from an analytical, interpretative or critical perspective of the author, on a specific topic, using original sources.

Review article. Document resulting from a completed investigation where the results of published or unpublished research on a field in science or technology are analyzed, systematized and integrated, in order to account for progress and development trends. It is characterized by presenting a careful bibliographic review of at least 50 references.

Short article. Brief document that presents preliminary or partial original results of a scientific or technological investigation, which generally require prompt dissemination."

 

Articles are published written in Spanish and English and must be submitted preferably in format LaTeX (download) or in Microsoft Word (download).

The articles to be published must include the generally accepted estructure for articles in scientific journals with the following basic characteristics:

- Title. Must be written in Spanish and English, in capital letters, without formulas or abbreviations. Must be precise and in agreement with the subject to develop and it does not have to exceed 130 characters including spaces. Titles, abstracts and keywords should be organized in accordance with the language in the article. So, if the article is written in Spanish the title must be first in Spanish and then in English. If the article is written in English, the title is written also in English and then in Spanish, same applies for abstracts and keywords.

- Authors names. The given name, initial letter of the middle name if any, and the first family name should be included for each author. Give the author filiations with superscript numbers and the e-mail of the corresponding author.  

- Abstract in Spanish and English. (250 words maximum),

- Keywords. Maximum 5 words. Use specific or disciplinary thesauri in accordance with the content of the subject of the manuscript. They should not be included in the title of the work.

- Development of the article. The text should be divided into sections, each with a heading. For instance: Introduction, Experimental Part and / or Theoretical Development, Results and Discussion, Conclusions. Titles should be left aligned and highlighted in bold. It is recommended that these sections be short and balanced.

- Bibliographic References. Only those references cited in the bibliographic section should be mentioned and they must be numbered in the main text in consecutive order and in between square parentheses. No references should be cited in the abstract. These references must follow the American Physical Society (https://authors.aps.org/revtex4/) format; The use of BibTEX is recommended. If the names of the journals are not included in the Journal Titles and Abbreviations or in http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog/journals, should be included complete. In general, citations must contain: the last name and initials of the first names of all authors separated by commas, followed by the name of the journal, the year, the volume and the pages. If the publication has a DOI, it must be included. For files sent in Microsoft Word, put after the year the web addresses or the link of each reference cited (it is suggested to use the Endnote tool). Unpublished material refers to works accepted for publication but which have not been printed. Some examples of quotes are shown below.

-Article: P. Hohenberg and W. Kohn, Phys. Rev. 136, B864 (1964).

-Book: A. Bard and L. Faulkner, Electrochemical Methods: Fundamentals and Applications (Wiley, 2000). pp. 1010-1014.

-Thesis (or similar): K. Martínez. Producción y Caracterización de Nuevos Materiales (tesis de maestría). Bogotá, Departamento de Física, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Nacional de Colombia; 2015. p. 10-46.

-Conference Proceedings: J. D. Pabón and G. Hurtado, in Memorias del Congreso Mundial de Páramos (2002) p. 98.

-Unpublished material: T. Poon, Optical Scanning Holography With Matlab (Springer) En prensa. 2017.

Requirements:

- Figures and tables must be numbered in consecutive order and must contain on the lower part a title or explanatory text. The figures, besides, must be sent separately with good resolution (300 pixels per inch) in either jpg, png, tif or gif formats. When graphing different series of data, use, when possible, different symbols (see examples in Latex or Word formats).

- Units, abbreviations and symbols: The International System of Units is mandatory (m, kg, s, K), using only terms generally accepted. It is necessary to explain the unknown abbreviations when used for the first time. Special care must be exercised when writing symbols in order to make them clearly identifiable with the author, use of formulas, special characters etc.

- It is recommended to reduce the number of footnotes, especially those referring to other notes in the same document, and not to use them for bibliographic references.

- Acknowledgments to persons or entities, publication permits etc, should be placed at the end of the text, before de bibliography.

- As an additional requirement, it is necessary to fill out the forms "Declaration of originality, responsibility of authorship and conflict of interest" and "Declaration of transfer of copyright to MOMENTO" and send them by email or attach them as additional documents in the OJS system.

- Contributions should not exceed 25 pages.

 

Section Policies

Articles

The article contents can not have been published total or partially in another magazine. Each manuscript will be submitted to an evaluation process by peers selected by the editorial committee and according to their answer the article will be published or rejected, and possible modifications will be suggested. The editorial committee will be able to reject, suggest changes or make style and grammar modifications without changing the scientific content. The accepted articles for publication will be checked in the final version for each one of the authors. The evaluation time is at least one month. The precision of the information in the articles including figures, tables, and bibliographical citations is a complete responsibility of the author or authors.

The names and e-mail addresses supplied to this journal, will be exclusively used for the purposes declared herein and will not be available for any other purpose or person.
