NANOCIENCIAS Y NANOTECNOLOGÍAS PARA UN DESARROLLO SOSTENIBLE

NANOSCIENCES AND NANOTECHNOLOGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

El desarrollo sostenible considera como eje central el conjunto de componentes físicos, químicos, y biológicos externos con los que interactúan los seres vivos y que con respecto al ser humano, comprende el conjunto de factores naturales, sociales y culturales existentes en un lugar y en un momento determinado que influyen en su vida y afectarán a las generaciones futuras. Los avances en las Nanociencias y las Nanotecnologías en general, y el creciente uso de nanomateriales en diversos productos de consumo en particular, han permitido aplicaciones concretas al cuidado y la preservación del medio ambiente, suscitando a nivel mundial un notable interés en amplios sectores de la sociedad sobre sus implicaciones sociales y ambientales, lo cual pertenece al ámbito de la relación entre las Nanociencias, las Nanotecnologías y la Bioética. El análisis de esta relación y de cómo la Divulgación y la Formación de las Nanociencias y las Nanotecnologías pueden contribuir a un desarrollo sostenible es el objetivo principal del presente artículo.

Sustainable development considers as a central axis the set of external physical, chemical, and biological components with which the living beings interact and which, with respect to the human being, comprises the set of natural, social and cultural factors existing in a place and in a determined moment that influence life and will affect future generations. Advances in Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies in general, and the increasing use of nanomaterials in various consumer products in particular, have allowed for specific applications for the care and preservation of the environment, raising worldwide interest in large sectors of the society on its social and environmental implications, which belongs to the field of the relationship between Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies and Bioethics. The analysis of this relationship and how the Dissemination and Training of Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies can contribute to sustainable development is the main objective of the present paper.
