The bioguided evaluation of the ethanolic extract obtained from the fruits of Apium graveolens L. led to the isolation of a organic compound highly effective to prevent maximal electroshock seizure in mice (88.5 % protection). This result suggests that the compound could be a potential source of anticonvulsant drug for the treatment of the tonic clonic seizures.
