Experimentally, it was found that biological behaviour of a lot of compounds was not adequally described using the octanol/water partition coefficient (log P), for this reason the liposomes are used. In this article, the thermodynamic aspects of transfer of solutes between phospholipid vesicles and aqueous media, and a brief review of the investigations in the pharmaceutical field about this topic are presented.
