Heritabilities and genetic and phenotypic correlations of productive traits were obtained in the Zebú Brahmán registered in Colombia. 1505 weights at birth (BW), 26170 adjusted weaning weight (WW), 10531 adjusted yearling weight (YW) and
13588 adjusted weight at 18 months (W18) were used from the progenies of 629 sires evaluated. Heritabilities for BW, WW, YW and W18 were .48±.1O, .45±.O2, .40±.03 and .5O±.O3, respectively, and were considered médium. Genetic correlations of adjacent weights were médium (.41, .22 and .50) and low for weights apart (.12, .13 y .03). Similar trend occurred with phenotypic correlations. These results suggest the use of an Índex for the optimal selection of improved sires in the breed.
