Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The Revista de la Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria y de Zootecnia recognizes the increasing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in scientific research and scholarly publishing. In order to ensure transparency, integrity, and accountability in the editorial process, the following policy applies to all submissions:
1. Mandatory disclosure
Authors must explicitly declare the use or non-use of generative AI tools in the preparation of the manuscript. This declaration must be included in a dedicated section at the end of the manuscript, titled “Declaration of Use of Artificial Intelligence.”
If AI tools were used, authors must specify:
- The name and version of the tool (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, Copilot, etc.)
- The purpose of use (e.g., language editing, data analysis support, text generation, figure preparation)
- A clear statement confirming that all outputs were reviewed, edited, and validated by the authors, who assume full responsibility for the content of the manuscript
2. Responsibility and accountability
Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, as authorship implies responsibility, which can only be attributed to humans. Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that all information is accurate, reliable, original, and free from plagiarism or bias. All sources must be properly cited and verified for accuracy.
3. Acceptable and non-acceptable uses
AI tools may be used for language editing, grammar correction, clarity improvement, and enhancement of the manuscript structure. They may also assist in organizing datasets, provided that authors carefully verify the accuracy and integrity of all generated outputs.
AI tools must not be used to generate scientific conclusions without appropriate human validation. They must not be used to fabricate data, references, or results, nor to replace the authors’ original intellectual contribution.
