Definición y conocimiento en Menón
Definition and knowledge in Menon
Descargas
The Principle of Priority of Definition is, for any reader of the Socratic Dialogues, a recurrent topic in Socrates' disputes. At the beginning, this essay exposes the problem that arises if this principle is assumed without taking into account its theoretical presuppositions. The Socratic requirements of a definition are then analyzed. Next, an interpretation of this principle is developed on the basis of two distinctions that appear in the Menon: I. tacit/explicit knowledge, established as a consequence of the Theory of Reminiscence, and II. Knowledge/True Opinion. In conclusion, it is shown how this principle is the foundation of Knowledge in this Dialogue.
