The first ten chapters of the seventh book of the Ethica Nicomachea are dedicated to the investigation of states or dispositions of moral character that in some degree differ from virtuc and vice and are placed in berween the two. To contrast with a platonic view, Aristotle defends the possibiliyyof a disposition in which the possession of knowledge of what is correct does not imply acting correctly. The dissociation of knowledge and practice brings forth two questions
to be answered in order to justify akrasia: (i) what kind of knowledgeis possessed by the akratic that permits him to act differently from his knowledge?; and (ii) how can the akratic act againsthis knowledge?. The present paper will take both questions into account by first exposing a description of akrasía that highlights the role of a possible answer to the epistemological question —(iii)— in order to
expose the reasons that lead to the necessary existence of a practical feature of akrasia, that is, will,
